Three New iPhones of 2020 will Support 5G

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released the latest report today. He predicted that all three new iPhones of 2020 will support 5G technology.

In a prediction a month ago, Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned that only two high-end models in the 2020 iPhone will support 5G. Nevertheless, today’s report has revised this point of view. The reasons are listed as below:

1). After Apple acquired the Intel smartphone modem business. There are more resources to develop the 5G iPhone;

2). We expect the price of Android phones supporting 5G to drop to approximately $249-349 in the second half of 2020. We believe that 5G Android phones priced at $249-349 only support Sub-6GHz. However, the key is that consumers will think that 5G is a must-have function at the second half of 2020. So the iPhone with higher price only supports 5G, in order to win consumers’ willingness to purchase;

3). Accelerating 5G development helps Apple promote the AR ecosystem.

Ming-Chi Kuo also mentioned that in order to meet the needs of the US market, the three 2020 5G iPhones will support the mmWave and Sub-6GHz spectrum, but it is unclear whether the company will launch a 5G iPhone that only supports Sub-6GHz:

“For markets that only support Sub-6GHz, Apple is about to launch a 5G iPhone that only supports Sub-6GHz, gaining market share at a lower cost and price. However, even if the design is the same, only The 5G iPhone supporting Sub-6GHz and the 5G iPhone supporting both mmWave & Sub-6GHz still have to be treated as different projects.”

In addition to supporting 5G technologies, the screen size of the 2020 iPhone will also change. The screen sizes of the two high-end models using OLED screens would be 5.4 inches and 6.7 inches (small smaller, larger and larger), while the screen size of low-end models with OLED screens Still 6.1 inches.
