Apple has applied fingerprint on display (FOD) patent. The company is still interested in on-display screen. In terms of technology development, the four key technologies for fingerprints in the next 12-18 months will improve significantly. They are module thickness, sensing area, power consumption, and lamination yield rate. Apple will launch a new iPhone with Face ID and on-display fingerprint in 2021. By doing so, it improves security and user experience due to multiple biometric functions.

With the iPhone's Sept. launch date just a couple of weeks away, iPhone 11 rumors have kicked into high gear, promising a plethora of new features and updates in this year's models. The biggest rumors so far center around triple rear cameras for the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max. The regular iPhone 11 in this scenario would replace the iPhone XR and get two rear cameras. Other rumored features include reverse wireless charging, faster USB-C charging in the box and perhaps better shatter-resistance and water-resistance. We've also heard that Apple could offers Apple Pencil support, at least for the Pro models. But Apple is reportedly focusing the most on improved camera performance, both for still photos and for video.
