iPhone 14 rumored release date, specs, design and leaks

It's one year before the iPhone 14 models are ready to be released in 2022, but because these devices are undergoing major updates, we have heard rumors about them long before the release of the iPhone 13, and now let’s take a look at the rumors.

1). No Notch and Under-Display Face ID

Since 2017, iPhones equipped with Face ID have a notch on the front to accommodate all the equipment required for facial scanning, but this situation will change with the introduction of the iPhone 14. It is expected that some iPhone models in 2022 will use a face-free design for the ID under the display and a small perforated cutout in the center of the front camera.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in March 2021 that the 2022 iPhone model will not have bangs, but will use a punch-hole design that is popular on many Android phones. This hole punch will be a central cutout for the front camera.

There are also some discussions about under-screen Touch ID, but Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes that Apple has invested in Face ID and is developing an under-screen Face ID solution instead of returning to Touch ID.

Although most face ID components need to be under the display, the camera part can still be used through the cutout, so the quality of the front camera will not be affected.

1.1 ProMotion Display

All four iPhone 14 models launched in 2022 can support 120Hz ProMotion display technology, not just Pro models, but this is not certain, because some information indicates that ProMotion will become a feature of iPhone 14 Pro.

For example, the South Korean website The Elec stated that next year at least one iPhone model will use a standard LTPS OLED display without 120Hz ProMotion technology, indicating that this feature may continue to be limited to Pro models.

2). Body design

The leaker Jon Prosser claimed that Apple will introduce a thicker chassis without rear camera bumps. Allegedly, the lens, LED flash and LiDAR scanner will be flush with the rear glass.
In addition to the flush camera, the iPhone 14 model can also be equipped with a circular volume button, which looks similar to the buttons on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 models. The redesigned speaker and microphone grille have a slim mesh cutout instead of A separate hole at the bottom of the device.

2.1 Size options

There will be no 5.4-inch iPhone in 2022, and Apple is expected to focus on larger iPhones in the future.

We look forward to the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max, among which the larger 6.7-inch iPhone will replace the mini model.

2.2 Titanium

According to an investor report from JP Morgan Chase, it is expected that Apple's upcoming iPhone 14 model will also use a high-end titanium alloy chassis design. Titanium is more scratch resistant, stronger than steel and aluminum, and more resistant to corrosion.

2.3 Cooling

Beginning in 2022, high-end iPhone models may use a soaking plate cooling system, and Apple is said to be "actively testing." High-end iPhones will need VC cooling systems because they have greater computing power and faster 5G connection speeds.

2.4 Lightning port

There are rumors that Apple plans to remove the Lightning port from the iPhone in order to achieve a portless design and charge via MagSafe, but it is not clear whether this technology will be introduced in the 2022 iPhone models.

3). Camera Technology

All 2022 iPhones can see improvements in ultra-wide-angle cameras, and Apple is likely to introduce "periscope" lens technology that can achieve up to 10x optical zoom.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple will upgrade its telephoto camera from a 6-element lens to a 7-element lens.

Guo also believes that the 2022 Pro iPhone model will be equipped with a 48-megapixel wide-angle camera, which will be a major improvement over the current 12-megapixel camera and 8K video recording capabilities.

4). A16 chip

Every new version of the iPhone is equipped with an updated A series chip. For the iPhone 14, we look forward to Apple's A16 chip.

5). Car accident detection

Apple is developing a collision detection feature for the iPhone and Apple Watch, which may be launched in 2022. It will use sensors such as accelerometers to detect the occurrence of a car accident by measuring the peak of gravity.

When a car accident is detected, the iPhone or Apple Watch will automatically call the emergency service number for help.

6). Snapdragon X65 modem

The iPhone 14 model will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 modem, which is the world's first 10 Gb 5G modem and antenna system for smartphones.

6.1 Satellite connection

Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 has enabled some satellite connection functions. In addition to the modem, Apple plans to implement a satellite-based emergency function, allowing users to send text messages in emergencies and report major emergencies in areas without cellular network coverage.

7). WiFi 6E

Apple alalyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that the iPhone 14 is expected to have WiFi 6E connectivity. Kuo said that WiFi 6E will provide the high-speed wireless transmission required for AR and VR experiences, and it is expected that it will also be used in mixed reality headsets that may come out in 2014.

8). 2TB storage?

On the iPhone 13 Pro model, Apple has added a new 1TB storage layer. There are rumors that with the iPhone 14 upgrade, Apple may further increase it to 2TB.

9). iPhone 14 Launch date

If Apple follows the previous release schedule, it is expected that Apple will launch the iPhone 14 model at an event that may be held in September 2022.

Finally, we have to say that Apple has been leading the mobile technology of the world to a new age. News about other aspects of iPhone 14 will leak in the coming days. Let wait and see it.
